Software for heating installers
A heating company lives off two things: the installations it puts in, and the fleet it services afterwards. The second one pays for the quiet months, but it is the one that is managed worst, because it sits in a spreadsheet and in two people's heads.
The day of a heating company
This is not a problem of technical skill. It is a problem of places: the information exists, but it is spread across six things that do not talk to each other.
- September arrives and the list of services to do before winter has to be pulled out of a spreadsheet.
- The required inspection interval is not the same for an oil boiler as for a gas one, and that is written nowhere in your tools.
- The technician arrives on site not knowing which burner is fitted or what was replaced last year.
- The certificates are filled in that evening, from the combustion analyser printouts.
- In January the breakdowns take everything, and the due services slip to March.
What Instalvo changes for a heating company
Instalvo is built around recurring maintenance rather than around the one-off job. That is the difference between job-management software that also does heating, and software that starts from the installed base.
- Every boiler is an installation in its own right: make, model, serial number, output, fuel, commissioning date.
- The maintenance contract carries the frequency, and the frequency depends on the fuel, so one rule is not pasted onto the whole fleet.
- The combustion readings taken during the visit feed the certificate directly, with no copying out.
- The technician's approval number is on their profile, not in their head.
- A boiler's full history, its visits, its parts and its readings, fits on one screen, before the technician leaves.
The installations you look after
A heating company's fleet is not uniform, and that is exactly what makes a spreadsheet hard to keep. Instalvo treats each one as a separate object, with its own due dates.
- Condensing gas boilers, wall-hung and floor-standing
- Oil boilers and their tank
- Gas water heaters and cylinders
- Communal heating plant in apartment buildings
- Radiators, underfloor heating and distribution circuits
- Hybrid systems, boiler and heat pump together
Common questions
Does Instalvo know the inspection intervals?
The frequency is carried by the contract and by the installation, and you set it yourself at the start, per fuel and per type. Instalvo does not decide on your behalf what the regulation requires: it lets you apply the rules to your fleet without recalculating them every time.
What if I work in both Wallonia and Flanders?
The product works for both, but the regulatory documents in the first release are the Walloon ones. If most of your fleet is in Flanders, say so when you sign up: that is exactly the kind of information that decides the order we build things in.
I also fit heat pumps. Is that different software?
No, the same one. A heat pump is an installation like any other in Instalvo, with its own visits and its own history. The heat pump page explains what changes in practice.
